Where to find cake!
Sankt Gallen – Kutscherhaus
Start and finish
The old “Kutscherhaus” will be our base camp! This is where we will meet before and after.
- bicycle workshop at your disposal
- store your luggage
- drinks / coffee / cake
- BBQ and fireplace at your disposal
Just drop by and feel at home!
The beautiful city of St.Gallen will be perfect for preperation and recovery after the event. Get a coffee in the gorgeous old-town, visit one of many great restaurants or have a refreshing swim at “Drei Weihern”. You’ll love it!
Hochalp
Hochalp lies just five kilometres from Schwägalppass and is even 250 metres higher than the famous pass. Enjoy the breathtaking panorama – because the gradient will take your breath!
Safiental – Turrahus
The spectacular “Ruinaulta”-road, carved into the mountain, high above the river rine is one of the best views you’ll find in the alps. After you climbed up to Versam, the road will take you to Safien-Valley and will only get smaller and more beautiful! The checkpoint will be at the beautiful, 300 years old guesthouse “Turrahus”!
Calfeisental – Sankt Martin
Sankt Martin – a tiny village at the very end of Calfeisen valley. The almost forgotten village consists of a small chapel, a water mill and several wooden cabins – more than 700 year old! This is where time seems to be standing still and you can feel nature, history, the deep blue lake and the majestic mountains!
Be aware – the road from “Gigerwald-Lake” to Sankt Martin is so narrow, that traffic is run alternating:
full hour until 20 past > in direction to Sankt Martin
half hour until 10 to > in direction to the lake
from 6 PM to 9 AM > free
Sernftal
A beautiful trail leads alongside River Sernft from Schwanden to the end of the valley. A tiny and very steep road leads up to our checkpoint! But hey – there will be cake and an amazing view!!
Tösstal – Dägelsberg
Attention: for the Dead Ends Challenge the checkpoint Tösstal is moved to Restaurant Sennhütte!
Dägelsberg Wiesli, just below the “Dägelsberg”. A small and steep road rises from Steg im Tösstal towards Dägelsberg. Many fountains with fresh springwater will keep you fresh and the quaint mountain hut “Sennhütte” is a perfect spot for fresh food and cold drinks. From there a gravel road leads you past Hübschegg to the Dägelsberg Hütte, where a well deserved piece of cake is waiting for your!
There are countless small roads and trails through this large and wild forest (plan carefully – some of them are VERY steep!). With some luck you’ll spot chamois, grouses, golden eagles or even a lynx!
